Château le Thil Comte Clary, Pessac Léognan, 2008
Light golden yellow, this white wine is very clean and fresh on the nose, with hints of orange blossom and lemon zest. The palate is rich, without being overly heavy. Definitely a tropical wine, with flavors of peach, pineapple, and mango.
Enjoy with grilled fish and white meat, and mild, soft cheeses or a fruit plate. We’re betting that lemon meringue pie would be a great match for this white wine. Under $20 on JJBuckley.com.
Le Rosé de Clarke, Listrac-Médoc, 2010
Beautiful light strawberry pink in color, with a nose of raspberries and lime. From the winemakers at Baron Edmond Rothschild, this dry rosé ($21 on Amazon) is perfect for drinking with sweet and sticky barbecue ribs or chicken. This is an easy-drinking wine with hints of the shale and minerality of the French Bordeaux region soil it was harvested from. Perfect as an accompaniment to any light summer meal. It can also be paired with salads, fish, chicken, or Pan-Pacific cuisine.
La Fleur Morange Mathilde, Saint-Emilion, 2010
Deep ruby purple in color, this red wine is just the pick for grilled steaks, tuna, or salmon with a savory sauce . This glass-coating wine shows a nose of juicy black plum and raspberry fruits, shale, and dark coffee, accented with earth and mint. Bright, dry acidity, with full bodied tannins. At only $19, this 90+ rated wine is a steal to drink or keep for a few years.
Goldwater Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand
Pale straw gold in color, this sauvignon blanc has a gorgeous nose of passion fruit, grapefruit, and cantaloupe with citrus notes of lime and lemon peel. This wine is ripe, rich, and flavorful. It’s crisp mouth feel is a great palate cleanser, elegant, with a nice, long finish.
We love this wine with anything creamy, seafood, or fresh and light for summer. It’s a great deal for under $18 on Wine.com
Vida Organica 2011 Sparkling Chardonnay
Golden yellow with a slight green hue. Delicate and persistent bubbles. Very fruit forward, with apple, pear, banana and pineapple aromas with delicate yeasts aromas. This is a perfect wine for celebrating, and would pair brilliantly with a strawberry shortcake, or simple fruit tart for dessert. Pop open a bottle for less than $15 on Wine.com.
