Jerky has been a popular snack in the US for decades. Many love jerky for its simplicity, convenient, and ability to provide a variety of flavors from spicy to fruit, to just about any taste you’re heart desires.
For me, the ability to experiment from the convenience of my own home is truly a plus. If you feel the same, you will definitely want to consider this whiskey and beef jerky recipe, a combination that to me is a match made in heaven.
This simple jerky recipe provides flavors that really come through. You’ll also have a better understanding of why whiskey drinks sell so well at steak houses.
Whiskey Pete Jerky Recipe
Directions:
- 1/2 cup whiskey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 4 drops liquid smoke (hickory)
- 1 pound London broil strips
Thoroughly mix all ingredients together, except for meat, and allow mixture to rest for 10 minutes. Meat strips are then added to the marinade and mix around so that they are completely coated with the marinade. Remove as much air as possible from the bag, seal, and place it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
During the marinating time, remove the bag from the refrigerator and work the meat around so that the meat gets to have the marinade fully incorporated into it. Remove strips from marinade and arrange in a single layer in your choice of dryer.
