id America designs products that are urban, trend-setting, unique and functional. Each tablet cover is created with the vision that function is just as important as form and the company strives to engineer products that are not only beautiful visually, but also practical. Product for iPad, iPad Mini, Galaxy and more offer premium leather materials and protective padding.

Writer’s Notes:  I tested out the Cosmopolitan Premium Leatherette Folio for iPad Mini.  The first thing that grabbed my attention was the smooth, luxurious feel of the materials, though I was a tad skeptical that the soft leather would support the unit.  My skepticism was short-lived.  The Cosmopolitan houses the unit well and provides adequate grip and maneuverability of the tablet, providing two way viewing positions for desktop or lounging.  The standout feature is the elegant design and material choices.

The Cosmopolitan is a standard case without pockets for cords, stylus, and so on.  Best used as a protective case for daily transport in a laptop bag or purse.

CoFi-Case-Silver-Croc-Mini-iPad-CoverCOFI TABLET/ EBOOK CASES

CoFi Case’s line of stylish tablet accessories comes from a family with over 40 years of experience in the leather business. Their classic line of high quality leather cases for iPad, Kindle Fire, Nook, Nexus 7, the iPad Mini and more
are lined with a faux shearling fabric for added protection. A unique feature of these stunning tablet cases is that 10% of all online proceeds are donated to a local Colorado Charity, the Fetal Health Foundation.

Editor’s Notes: We checked out their Silver Croc mini tablet holder, and found it just as described: like ‘Uggs for your iPad’. The leather is durable, protective, and well stitched, with an attractive, embossed pattern on the leather. The interior is lined with fleece, keeping our Samsung Galaxy mini tablet warm and toasty at coffee shop meetings.

The zipper at the top allows for easy removal of your tablet or Kindle, and there’s room inside for a charger and/or possibly even a small keyboard (depending on tablet thickness).

Walnut-Wooden-Kindle-Fire-Skin-Front-Back-Woodchuck-Web_largeWOODCHUCK CASE

Team Woodchuck envisioned a product less “Big Brother” and more “Mother Nature.” The result is signature, real wood accessory cases and covers using 100% natural, sustainable materials for mobile phones, laptops and tablets, as well as headphones and accessories. Woodchuck offers an ever-expanding portfolio of beautiful cases featuring one-of-a-kind designs and exotic woods, such as ebony, walnut, teak, mahogany and birch.  Cases are custom-fitted for today’s popular entertainment devices for iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Android, Beats by Dre, and more.

Writer’s Notes:  As a sustainable living gal, I was instantly drawn to Woodchuck products as they certainly suit my preferred style statement.  I tested the Kindle Fire Wood Skin in Walnut.  A skin, in contrast to a traditional case, is used for it’s ability to protect the tablet from scratches and to customize.  A highly desirable feature of the Woodchuck case skin is it’s ability to be engraved, further highlighting your person style with options ranging from artwork to photos or even a favorite recipe.

The tablet skin is easy to install, fits perfectly and adheres well.  The unique grain and quality of the wood is impressive, plus it offers a easy-to-grip surface that’s a desirable bonus in contrast to the slick Kindle Fire surface.

Acase.com believe that quality is the most important key to success, so quality, not the cost, is the most important consideration in producing their range of cell phone and tablet products. Their focus is on simple designs, authentic materials and economically priced products for individual customer and small business.  Variety is also apparently high on their radar as a full range of color, style and functional options are available in their case selection for iPad, iPad Mini, Kindle, Galaxy, Nexus and more.

Writer’s Notes:  When the Acase Arachne Genuine Leather Case for the iPad Mini arrived, it appeared rather nondescript, as most basic black cased do upon first glance. After exploring the case, I began to appreciate the simplistic, yet well-thought out design more and more.  The iPad Mini takes a second or two of coaxing to secure, but once inserted into the leather frame, there’s no fear the mini will slip out or move around.

The case has a little less padding than similar cases in this category giving it a slimmer profile.  A flap slot on the back of the case is designed to secure the base when changing viewing potions of the table, but also provides a grip point for attaching the case to the flap of a back car seat pocket and other surface.  A magnetic closure automatically wakes and puts the New iPad Mini sleep.

Pelcor, Portugal’s sustainable cork accessories company offers a range of “tech-cessories,” from cork skin iPad covers and iPhone sleeves, to USB drives and colorful notebooks to set travelers up for success. The essence of every Pelcor piece, cork is a vegetal fabric extracted from the cork oak tree that thrives in the Mediterranean, the only tree whose bark regenerates itself after each harvest. This is an ecological brand, inventive and sophisticated, that embodies a single, natural product: cork skin.

Writer’s Notes:  An eco-focused company with unique products… I was sold within seconds of hearing about Pelcor’s mission but even more so when the Pelcor Essentials Cork iPad Smart Cover landed on my desk.  An attractive outer cork design with a supple interior lends itself well to supporting and protecting iPad screens.  This is a single layer pad, meaning there is no back cover, designed to be used in conjunction with a sleeve or other carrying case accessory.

My favorite features are the uniqueness of the cork – no two covers are the same- and the cork is naturally recyclable and biodegradable.  If you favor a distinct look with an eco-conscience that stands out from the crowd, Pelcor will suit you well.

Pelcor tablet covers and cases retail from $55 and up and may be purchased at pelcorusa.com
