7 Summer Cocktail Recipes For Picnics, Barbecue, and Grilling

This year, the July 4th holiday falls on a Friday, which means a three day weekend of fun! If you’re one of those fortunate few, get your grill and picnic party on with some Americana themed booze. As the burgers are cooking, the pool splashing, and the sun shining, complete your holiday weekend with these a few delicious summer cocktail recipes that all of your guests will enjoy. Everyone loves a cold beer in the summer. A beer cocktail can be a refreshing twist, with flavors like honey, lemon, and gin playing off sweet, spicy barbecue and grilled foods. Try this honey beer cocktail from Aviation Gin with a gourmet burger recipe, a slice of key lime pie, or our very special cherry cola ribs recipe-a sure crowd pleaser!

Honey Beer Cocktail

  • 1½ oz Aviation American Gin
  • ½ oz Benedictine
  • ¼ oz Honey syrup*
  • ¾ oz Lemon juice
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • 2 oz Widmer Hefeweizen

In a pint glass, add spirits and mixers (through Widmer). Fill with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with beer. Garnish with a lemon wedge or piece of honey comb.

*To make honey syrup: Combine equal portions of honey and water in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil until all the sugar has dissolved. Let cool.

Apple Ginger Mule Cocktail RecipeWhat’s more American than apple pie? Perhaps an apple pie cocktail? This recipe combines muddled apple, gin, and ginger beer for a spicy, sweet tart drink. Enjoy by the lake with friends! 

Apple Ginger Mule

  • 4 pieces Muddled sweet apple chunks
  • 1½ oz Aviation Gin
  • ¾ oz Freshly pressed lime juice
  • 1 oz Simple syrup
  • 2 oz Ginger beer

In a pint glass, muddle the apple chunks. Add spirits and mixers (except ginger beer).  Fill with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into ice filled collins glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with sliced apple.

Summer 2014 Margarita RecipesMaestro Dobel Tequila – @dobeltequila

Lobster tacos are a fresh summertime favorite, and the best cocktail to enjoy it with is the Maestro Dobel Black Diamond Margarita. The sweetness from Dobel’s mix of reposado, añejo and extra añejo brings out the flavor in the delicious sandwich.

Black Diamond Margarita

  • 2 oz Dobel Tequila
  • 0.5 oz Fresh-squeezed Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz Agave nectar

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain over fresh ice into a rocks or margarita glass.

1800 Tequila
You can’t have a summer barbeque without grilled corn. Give this Fourth of July flair some flavor by adding some queso fresco (Mexican cheese), lime juice and cayenne pepper. When the flavor starts to kick in, enjoy a Blue Lagoon Margarita with 1800 Tequila – 100% blue agave tequila. Mexico is famous for their queso and tequila, so why not enjoy them together?

  • 1.5 oz 1800 Tequila
  • 0.75 oz Blue Curacao
  • 0.5 oz Pineapple Juice
  • Splash Lemon-Lime soda
  • Splash of Lime Juice

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain over fresh ice into a rocks or margarita glass.

Pink Sparkler Punch-Summer CocktailsReyka Vodka –[email protected]

  • 2 oz Sailor Jerry
  • 4 oz Fresh Lemonade
  • Lime wedge

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass.

Every July 4th party has one guest who makes the red, white and blue flag cake that is always super sweet. To take away the sweetness, enjoy a Monkey Shoulder Jam Sour and indulge.

  • 1.5 oz Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky
  • 0.5 oz Simple syrup
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz Soda Water
  • 2 tsp Anarchy in a Jar -Triple Berry Jam
  • Dash of Orange Bitters

Combine ingredients except the soda water in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain over fresh ice into a tall glass and top with soda water.
