The seminar schedule begins on Saturday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. with four very different education tracks. For curious new wine drinkers, Intro to the World of Wine seminar will help newcomers explore wine tasting protocol, wine varieties and how Washington State fits into the world of wine. The introductory seminar features six classic varieties from Washington State.
Saturday seminars also include a RIEDEL Glass Tasting with a chocolate and wine pairing where guests will receive a three piece Vinum XL Wine Tasting Set to take home. Washington vs. The World! invites participants to taste and compare five of Washington’s most sought-after wines against five highly renowned wines from around the globe.
New features to the seminar line-up include non-wine programs, Cure what Ales Ya! on Saturday, hosted by Master Beer Sommelier Mike Kelley who will lead attendees through a Belgian Beer tasting featuring international ales such as Stella Artois and Hoegaarden as well as highlighting local favorite Redhook Brewery. Beer will be paired with charcuterie from Cured, hand-crafted by the 2013 Washington State Wine Restaurant of the Year Visconti’s. On Sunday, guests can Join the Cider Revolution with cider and cheese expert Jill Lightner of Edible Seattle and Washington cider makers. Seminar participants can sample a variety of Northwest cider styles paired with delectable local cheeses.
